Les wagons citernes circulant en Amérique du Nord portent en gros caractères
un numéro d'identification (sigle) qui permet de connaître le propriétaire du wagon.

Ces sigles sont gérés par l'AAR : Association American Railroad.

These logos are managed by the AAR: American Railroad Association.

-  Les 3 premières lettres désignent une société ou une compagnie et si elles sont suivies d'un "X" cela  indique que
    cette  entreprise est privée, c'est-à-dire qu'elle n'exploite pas un réseau ferroviaire.

   The first 3 letters refer to a business or company and if followed by an "X" it indicates that this company is private,

   meaning that it does not operate a rail network.

-  Les chiffres désignent le n° d'ordre du wagon au sein de la société propriétaire.

   The numbers indicate the wagon's order number within the owning company.

  Par exemple, sur le wagon ci-dessous le sigle "NP" indique ce wagon appartient la "Northern Pacific", qui exploite le réseau
  ferroviaire du même nom.

For example, on the wagon below the "NP" acronym indicates this wagon belongs the "Northern Pacific", which operates the
  rail network of the same name.
